MEGPL has been the operator of the Alba field since 2002 producing condensate, propane and butane. We also supply methane to Atlantic Methanol Production Company (AMPCO) and to Equatorial Guinea LNG Operations S.A. (EGLNG), for the production of methanol and liquefied natural gas respectively. In 2009, Alba gross production was more than 200,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day, including gas sales.

Mobil Equatorial Guinea Inc. (MEGI) is amongst the largest oil producer in the country. MEGI operates Block B located offshore northwest of Bioko Island. Oil was first discovered in the 1960s, but the largest field to date, the Zafiro Field, was discovered in January 1995 with the drilling of the Zafiro-1 well. MEGI began producing from the Zafiro Field in 1996. The Zafiro Field accounts for the majority of Equatorial Guinea’s oil production today. The Zafiro Field is approximately 65 kilometers northwest of Malabo in water depths of 425-850 meters. Production from the Zafiro field has increased steadily since 1996 and currently is declining naturally, but remains at over 130,000 barrels a day. Some of its key production assets include the Floating Production Unit vessel Zafiro Producer, the Jade platform, and the Floating Production Storage and Offloading vessel Serpentina. Crude is stored and exported from the Serpentina.

GEPetrol was established as the National Oil Company of the Republic of Equatorial Guinea by Presidential Decree in February 2001, and became operational in 2002. The company has quickly moved to perform its new duties: * GEPetrol manages the state’s participation as a shareholder and other rights and obligations derived from the CPP (PSCs) signed before its creation. * GEPetrol acts as agents for the sales of the State’s share of hydrocarbons. * GEPetrol is responsible for the promotion of open acreage within Equatorial Guinea. * GEPetrol is responsible for undertaking training programmes to develop the skills of staff and to provide access to the most advanced technologies, techniques and knowledge of the oil industry. * GEPetrol is responsible for environmental policy and implementation. * GEPetrol may participate, either solely or as a partner with other national or foreign companies, in exploration and production activities either within Equatorial Guinea or abroad. GEPetrol interacts with the Ministry of Mines, Industry and Energy on a regular basis in order to coordinate the affairs of the industry in Equatorial Guinea, but is a separate and autonomous body. The Ministry of Mines, Industry and Energy continues as the overall regulatory and administrative body for the petroleum industry in Equatorial Guinea

Ophir Energy plc is a privately owned oil and gas exploration company. Ophir has an 80% interest in Block R in partnership with GEPetrol.
